Daily reminder that if you ever decide to enhance your body with cybernetic attachements to transform your body into a futuristic cyberslut sextoy, PLEASE use open source projects, with an emphasis on parts that are removable and replaceable.
Corporate monopolies will insist on forcing you to use hardware with backdoors, software with DRM and spyware and will legislate so you can’t ever get out of their business once you entered. They will block features present on their hardware behind paywall, they will prevent you from modifying your own hardware, and they will ultra charge fixs so you’re forced to upgrade to the more expensive plans.
We see corporations doing it now, when the products aren’t part of your body yet, and they will continue to do so once they replace your arms and legs.
Cyberpunk was never about the danger of having a prosthetic arm, it was a warning about letting corporations design prosthetic arms unsupervised.
I’ve heard some disabled people already talk about how this is already a reality for them, but this isn’t my situation so I can’t talk for them.
Oh and avoid connected devices as much as possible. They have vulnerabilities.

You gotta have supported reliable hardware, and open source software and firmware that talks to servers you have the option of setting up yourself, over public open source protocols.
It’s not that becoming an internet-connected sex cyborg is wrong, it’s that you should only give up control to people you choose, and there should be a safeword. Not just handing over control to a company because they made some software or hardware.
