Watched “Ferengi Love Songs” (lol, Brunt’s in the closet), and my brother requested a picture of Quark as a kid, playing with his Marauder Mo action figures. Oh, wee!Quark – the resale value on those things is going to be nil if you insist on denting them with Rom’s head.

Kitchener-Waterloo, ON – home to BlackBerryuWaterloo and the church my wife and I got married in.

Hey look, it’s a picture of me! (And about half a million other people.)

(This picture was taken during the day, so no matter how much you zoomed in you would not see me in my backyard, looking up and waving. Evening, now, that’s another matter.)

Here’s an example of how Hulu’s face-matching feature works. You just point your mouse at the actor’s face, and it pops up a tooltip showing both the actor’s name and their character’s name, along with a brief actor bio.

…This is, like, the best thing since closed captioning for me.

And here I was thinking nobody was considering the assistive-tech uses of facial recognition software. (Or maybe they still weren’t, and were actually thinking of…I dunno, some other use for this that doesn’t spring to mind.)

(I just hope it isn’t the face-equivalent of Youtube’s auto-“captions”. And that it becomes more widespread.)

As a fan of both the West Wing and Star Trek Voyager, I love that the West Wing staff are the dead crew of Voyager.  Taken from the episode “Imperfection!”  They did spell the names wrong though.  probably to avoid being sued by Warner Bros

WHAT WHAT WHAT I DID NOT KNOW THIS. HOLY SHIT THIS IS AMAZING.

WHAAAAT

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT

Let’s see…is it true? Yes, appears so.

Now which came first? Ah, S1 West Wing pre-dates S7 Voyager.

Naming minor characters after major ones is less awesome than the other way ‘round, but still.

The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over the Lazy Dog.

I feel like I’ve been preparing for this image all my life.

The internet is over, everyone can go home

It’s just as beautiful as I always imagined.

My life is complete.

So that’s what we’ve been writing about this whole time, eh?

Neverwhere… From the Radio Times website:

As anticipation mounts among fantasy fans ahead of the Radio 4 adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere, RadioTimes.com can reveal the first exclusive shot of the star-studded cast, which reads like a who’s who of cult TV.

Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch and X-Men’s James McAvoy are joined by Game of Thrones and former Fades star Natalie Dormer, Doctor Who alumnus Sophie Okondeo and Homeland’s David Harewood for the tale of London Below, an alternate reality beneath the capital where famous landmarks take on a life of their own.

Screen legends Christopher Lee and Bernard Cribbins also star in an adaptation that is being described as an “audio film”.

The six-part series begins with an hour-long episode on Saturday 16 March on Radio 4 and continues with five 30-minute instalments on Radio 4 Extra from Monday 18 March.

More photos and news to follow in the coming weeks…

*makes grabby hands*

So… do legal copies of things like these make there way over here (US), or will I have to find a virtual dark alley?

Maybe iPlayer will have it? (The TV there is geo-locked, but the radio is not. Most stuff is taken down after a week, though.)

I think I’ll be watching out for this myself. I haven’t read the book, but it looks interesting.

Poster by Klaas Wynne.

aah oh wow this is great

my best friend in middle school wasn’t allowed to wash her hair with anything other than this weird lemon juice concoction because her terrifying mother objected to “chemicals”, I spent a lot of time being like BUT WE’RE MADE OF CHEMICALS at her, to no avail

This is so great. Chemicals are not inherently bad, people.

basically obligated to reblog this

I bought dish detergent once that advertised itself as containing “no chemicals!” I couldn’t not buy dish detergent made of ~*MAGIC*~.

There’s a brand of detergents that promises ‘no nasty chemicals’. AUGH.

DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THIS WOULD BENEFIT THE AMERICANS ON TUMBLR. THEY COULD ACTUALLY SEE THEIR FRIENDS THAT LIVE ACROSS THE COUNTRY. THIS PLACE IS TOO GODDAMN BIG TO NOT HAVE A SYSTEM LIKE THIS.

AMERICA’S TRAINS ARE DECADES BEHIND OTHER COUNTRIES’ RAILWAY TECHNOLOGY. IT’S AN EMBARRASSMENT AND WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO FIX IT WITH SOMETHING LIKE THIS.

83,000 signatures needed by March 7!
