Since being consistently on HRT since the start of the year, I’ve gone from “perky, sensitive nipples on a flat chest” to “actually has breasts and feels slightly awkward walking around with no bra”, and the process seems to be accelerating somewhat.

Also, they hurt ALL THE TIME. Like, even giving people hugs is painful. Luckily, the skill points I recently invested in masochism have been extremely useful here, so this hasn’t been a problem in the slightest. Dull aches are the easiest to mentally reinterpret, so I’ve experienced zero unpleasantness throughout this.

Overall, the sudden boob growth seems good? I’m mostly indifferent to whether I have breasts directly (I’d find it slightly more convenient not to, I think), but I expect it to be good for getting people to read me as female, especially with my top off. (Though I’ve found that breasts have only a small effect on how people read you, and flat chest + eyeliner passes better than prominent falsies + no eyeliner.) Also, like, straight guys like breasts, I’ve been informed.

The other thing having actual flesh-boobs might be useful for is someday being able to nurse children, which would be super convenient. And this seems like it might actually be possible, because for the past few days I’ve actually been lactating any time pressure is placed on my chest. So, proof of concept that lactation is possible.

The only problem is, I seem to be lactating mostly water? Like, y’know how the milk-producing glands are modified sweat glands? I seem to still have roughly-normal sweat glands there instead, so I think I’m producing very dilute sweat, or something.

So, if anyone knows about the biology of transition: What should I expect to happen there? Will they just naturally develop further into actually producing milk, or should I modify my HRT in some way to encourage that? And where might I learn more about this?

Oh, actually, this is a good place to get survey data on an interesting question of linguistics. Could as many people as possible please take this survey on whether certain constructions seem grammatical to you so I can answer a problem that’s been bugging my household.

I’m not sure whether “homeschooled with English-language schoolbooks by a native-English-speaking mother” qualifies as “>10 years in an English-language school system” for your purposes. I clicked “no”, because normally when people ask me if I’ve spent >10 years in a school system the correct answer is “no”, but now I’m having second thoughts.

Re: OP, for what it’s worth, some stories I tend to hear from people talking about their weddings (or other people’s weddings):

“Our photographer didn’t show up, or showed up but didn’t focus on the areas we told him to focus on.”

“Our DJ didn’t bring the music we requested, causing a last-minute scramble in which my fiance had to run home and get tapes* out of our own music collection.”

“My mother-in-law took a party-favour bouquet without asking first. I was going to give that bouquet to my aunt-in-law!”

“Only half of the people who said they were going to show up actually did, leaving us with an unnervingly empty venue.”

[while watching a reality show:] “It is not possible for a wedding dress to be worth that much money unless it is made out of precious materials and you plan to sell it for scrap. That lady is so going to regret not buying her wedding dress from the thrift store for $40.”

Okay, I have done Math and also talked to a live Customer Service Person! Result: I think I need to raise about $200 to make the rent and cover my phone bill this month. In case anyone was worried, I am actually applicating to jobs as hard as I can – the mills of the corporate gods just grind really REALLY slowly, so even if I had an interview tomorrow there’s no way I’d have a paycheck by the first. I know that, when I’m aroused, the easiest way I can defuse the feeling is to make myself laugh.

But it just occurred to me – are there people who become aroused when they’re amused? I mean, I assume such people must exist, given that every single thing is both negatively and positively correlated with sex in some people. What do you guys think?

I’ve heard of dacryphiles (turned on by crying, although the term often refers to watching others cry), and I’ve heard of tickling fetishists, but I don’t think I’ve encountered anyone who was into laughing per se. Definitely wouldn’t surprise me, though.

(I, too, tend to laugh when turned on, especially if someone else is watching. While there could be a defusion aspect, for me I think it’s mainly deflection: “I am having an emotional response to this thing. I don’t want these people to know what emotion I’m having. I’ll pretend to be having a different emotion instead, one that can serve as a plausible answer to ‘Why [do you like]/[are you interested in] this thing?’” It’s not always a conscious decision, but I suspect that it’s still a similar line of reasoning when subconscious.)

Last year there were over 3,000 participants, and I’d love it if we could beat that this year. If your gender isn’t fully expressed or described by the gender binary, you are enthusiastically invited to take part – regardless of the words (if any) that you use to describe your gender.

There are just 8 questions, and it doesn’t ask for your birth assignment or any identifying information.
