I hear people say “oh my god I hate people” all the time without backlash. everyone knows they don’t hate every single individual in humanity. they have friends and family they love and hang out with. they simply hate the greedy, corrupted, oppressive nature of some human beings.
but the minute we say something about white people or men, no one seems to understand that it’s the same concept.
How does that saying go? “The line between good and evil runs through every human heart”? Everyone is worthy of love, and everyone is worthy of hatred. No exceptions.
When I say I hate everyone (which, admittedly, I generally don’t do out loud, as it’s rather rude), I mean literally everyone. I mean my psychological barriers preventing me from contemplating why I ought to hate everyone have failed.
Said barriers are currently only in the alpha stage of development, and fail frequently: about 2 – 5 times a month, for about half an hour at a time. I’m working on it, though. I hope that one day, I’ll be able to repress my misanthropy as thoroughly as I do my mortality.
(I note that the anti-mortality barriers were a huge project, taking something like 2 – 3 years to develop to a point strong enough that I could talk about it without really thinking about it. I was around age 7 when I started it, so it was a big chunk of my total lifespan at that point. I don’t expect the anti-misanthropy barriers will be any easier, both in terms of how long it takes and in terms of the amount of pain suffered in the process.)

Hee! Yeah, I always wonder how much people are picking up by osmosis with the bajillion things I reblog. (And hey, I’m in the middle of rewatching s9 right now!)
I also wonder what my blog’s cross-section of the show looks like to the people who’ve never actually watched it. Or the people who quit somewhere in the first five seasons.
While watching the S6 finale, I paused it for a bit to consider how this fit into all the fandom osmosis I’d received. (The thing that made me stop was hearing “when it goes off, I’ll be fine”, which was the quote on that Alpha fanart I can’t find because Tumblr sucks. I believe my exact thought-words were “oh fuck it’s true he’s going to die”.) After thinking it over, I concluded that nobody was actually going to die, because they all appear in gifsets and/or reaction posts set later.
This conclusion turned out to be mostly incorrect. I had vastly underestimated how complicated things like “life” and “death” and “existence” get when Leonard Church enters the picture.

My first thought was “Oh god, what terrible thing did he say?”.
Then I saw that the next post on my dash was also about Robin Williams, and while the main body of that post was even less informative, it was tagged “death tw”.
And I was like, “Oh”.
I checked Google News to make sure I’d understood it right. Here’s what I found.
Same here. And this is the article I found in the National Post (pretty good I thought, though scads of pictures if that’s a bandwidth problem for you).
I think I did know he’d dealt with depression over the years, so on that level I had context for it. But still. :-(

You know the answer to the question “what happens in space if you aren’t wearing a spacesuit” is going to be “very bad things”, but just what those bad things are is the interesting part.

I think we’ve learned a valuable lesson today: if you are about to be exposed to vacuum, expel as much of the air in your lungs as possible.
(“Don’t be exposed to vacuum at all” is also a valuable lesson, but I feel confident we all knew that one already.)

If you are looking for the most heart-felt zombie short film, I recommend “Cargo”.
It’s about a man’s struggle to save his baby daughter in the middle of all this havoc. What he comes up with is both clever and upsetting.
OKAY JUST WATCHED THIS, THE SOLUTION WAS AMAZING WATCH IT OHMYGOD WATCH IT
If you haven’t seen this, watch it. With a box of tissues.
It is easily the most heartrending zombie film I’ve ever seen, and I watch the shit out of zombies.
See, THIS is a zombie scenario that’s interesting to me, people being SMART about it.
