Peacock Jewel Moth – Dysphania numana

The tropical genus Dysphania includes some of the largest and most colorful moths of all the Geometridae. Dysphania numana is one of the largest moths for the family, reaching a wingspan of up to 8 cms. Whilst being somewhat variable, they are generally dark blue with clear areas in the wings, and an irregular row of orange spots around the outer edge of each hind wing. The body is banded in dark blue and orange.

This species can be found in Australia and also in Indonesia.

It is indeed one of the most beautiful moths I’ve ever seen.

Three-week-old baby sulcatta tortoises, which have been named Donatello, Raphael, Leonardo and Michelangelo, hitch a ride on the back of their mother Margaret at the Lake District Wild Life Park near Keswick. It’s the first time the wildlife park has successfully bred Africa’s largest tortoise.

Being nice to the people around you will change a lot. Over time. Look at all the people talking about their shitty day and then one friend was nice to them and it made things okay again. You can be that one friend for a few people on a few occasions, and that’ll recharge them. Seriously, not everyone has to be front-line. You can be a medic. We need medics, too. You can be that person we know isn’t making things worse, and that’s sometimes an amazing thing.

Needed to hear this today, thank you.

Activist speaking: Being nice to people makes activism way easier and in a lot of ways is a form of activism.

Also, in general, I’d really REALLY like to get the myth that literally everyone needs to be an activist destroyed. In reality, it doesn’t take a lot to tip scales, as long as the general population is friendly to the problem. Slactivism is okay sometimes! Not being an activist at all is okay sometimes!
