: #doctor julian bashir nearly has a panic attack when he comes face to face with his mirror counterpart #captain bashir with his long hair and five o’clock shadow and restless hands #sneering at julian mocking him disdainful at the possibility that a version of himself would be so privileged #that he would pick up a medkit instead of a disruptor #captain bashir who has suffered and struggled and been beaten because he wasnt quick enough #because he couldnt sweettalk himself into the intendents lap like sisko #captain bashir’s hands are rough and dirty and they shake (he has tremors but its okay because hes never needed to perform surgery) #and julian looks at him and all he can see is Jules #and it breaks him a little #(he knew it would he didnt look for his mirror counterpart he KNEW it would break him) (x)

I never could understand why he would care about turning thirty, in a society where Dr. McCoy was still alive and active at age 137. Thirty is too young for a Fed human to be having a mid-life crisis. Thirty is too young for them to be having a quarter-life crisis.
