IT BOINGED ONTO ITS OWN HEAD

it fucking

rolled up into a ball

and rolled.

!!! it’s a popple!!! a real life popple!!!

These are popples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9e0XDP_P9w

Oh! I thought you were referring to one of those toys where you suction-cup the top part to the bottom part and when the suction lets go the released energy flips it over. (I have a toy frog like that.) “Popple” seems like a reasonable word for such a toy, and the flipping looks a lot like that bunny.

Okay, folks. For those of you who haven’t heard, there’s a lunar eclipse on April 15th (the beginning of the 15th, not the end).

People in the westerly parts of North America with roughly ordinary (by industrialised standards) sleep schedules will get a good show. People in the easterly parts of North America with nocturnal sleep schedules (or who stay up late for the occasion) will also get a good show. Europeans are likely out of luck, but may see something just before dawn. (See map and time chart for more details.)

(I personally live in the Eastern time zone and sleep from midnight to 9, and haven’t decided if I’m willing to stay up for it. If you’re in the same boat and decide it’s not worth staying up half the night, the September 28th, 2015 eclipse is much more conveniently timed: 9:07 PM – 12:27 AM EDT. There are also two other lunar eclipses between now and then that people missing this one (or even people not missing this one) may want to look into. (We’re having an unusually large number of lunar eclipses over the next couple years.))

The science witch trials

“#science!#I actually have no idea what this is#and I’m too sleepy to google#but cool eh”

It’s sand that has been scotchgarded to make it water-repellent! The brand name I know is “moon sand”, and I am told it’s hilariously fun to play with. (As Stephen Fry demonstrates. :D)

Real Talk: On Not Wearing Bras (Yes, It’s Okay to Go Braless)

image

Here’s a random fact: Did you know there is actually no common medical reason to wear a bra?

That’s right. None. Contrary to popular belief, bras don’t improve breast health, prevent breast sagging, or anything else. Quite simply, there is no agreed upon health benefit to wearing bras that applies to every single woman.

Reblog if you dont shave your legs everyday.

I just want everyone to see how unrealistic some expectations are.

If I shaved every day, my legs would be a bleeding wreck of scar tissue. And I’d still have stubble.

What is this “shaving” of which you speak?

Ok so how many of you out there with Prosopagnosia also have other issues like synesthesia or no sense of direction or other? The 2 specific examples are additional issues/quirks I have. I don’t recall the source but remember reading somewhere that this was common with Prosopagnosia? Also does anyone else also have social anxiety either aggravated by or as a direct affect of Prosopagnosia?

Thanks!

brin-bellway:

Me too. I’m mildly sound-colour synesthetic, and I have a pretty terrible sense of direction. I never had much cause to notice the latter until I started learning to drive (I live in the kind of small town where all the places worth going to are on the same street), but the more I drive the bigger a problem it’s going to be. I really need a GPS.

I’ve also been meaning to practise navigating the nearby city with Street View. That way if I get thoroughly lost I have the option of giving up without being forced to find my way back home first, and I will have neither the stress of trying to both drive and navigate nor the stress of it all happening in real-time.

where-am-i-and-do-i-know-you:

Yeah that was why my mom got me a GPS years ago…I don’t think she was entirely kidding when she said she was worried about me not being able to find home & never being seen again…it has definitely been helpful, just make sure you keep the device updated and also Mapquest where you’re going as a backup…

totallyacomputer:

Eeek! I never ever ever mapquest. It’s gone horribly wrong so many times. I’m all about Google Maps (which is what I use on my phone as a GPS as well and it updates itself). I’m more of the type to bring my phone (as a GPS) and whatever I need to charge my phone.
I used to have a dedicated GPS, but no matter how often we updated it, it was still wrong. Google, on the other hand, seems to know when a road is closed for an accident (and when it’s open again), even, and reroutes accordingly. I’d be so lost without it!

Reason #746 why I need a smartphone.
