“So I made some carnivorous mammals.”

“Uh huh.”

“And I made some carnivorous birds.”

“You did indeed.”

“And I made some carnivorous fishes, and carnivorous reptiles, and even carnivorous bog plants.”

“I know, evolution. Those were nice.”

“Well, I’ve got a new one.”

“Great.”

“Carnivorous… potatoes!”

“I’m sorry?”

“Carnivorous potatoes! They’ll have, like, tiny, sticky hairs to trap the little mites that crawl by underground. Then the mites die, and the potato can absorb their nutrients.”

“Are you serious?”

“Of course I’m serious.”

“Death by potato?”

“That’s the idea.”

“I’m… not really sure what to say to that.”

“Sometimes inspiration just strikes me, you know?”

What could possibly be better than a pile of LEGOs, each tiny piece so full of potential? How about LEGO bricks made of mouthwatering chocolate? Yep, that’ll do it. These awesome, completely functional and 100% edible Chocolate LEGO bricks are the work of Japanese illustrator and designer Akihiro Mizuuchi.

The bricks are made by pouring melted chocolate into precisely designed molds. After the chocolate has cooled, the edible LEGOs can be popped out of the molds and used just like regular LEGO bricks. That is, until you’re overcome by the urge to start eating them.

Now we’re one step closer to living in a Land of Chocolate.

After so many years of disliking centaurs for being impractically designed, I thought of a design that actually makes them look like functional organisms! And now I love them!!!

Their hands have two thumbs, and can be used in walking and running just like the other limbs. The smaller centaurs have dexterous toes on all of their limbs, but in the higher weight classes, gripping ability on the back four legs is sacrificed in order to better support the body while standing. The central limbs are set wider than the fore and hind limbs to prevent collision when all six are being used in locomotion.

Today is the 100th Anniversary of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo.  This is a Keystone Stereo View of Sarajevo, from the Keystone View Company’s “The World War” set, probably from the 1920’s.

Interesting side note:  The Keystone View Company used a picture of the wrong bridge! This is not the Latin Bridge, near where the assassination took place. This is the Seher-Cehaja Bridge, about half a kilometer upriver. This photo is also facing south, while the assassination took place on the north side of the river.
